Indiana Born & Raised

Alex & Andrea are both from Indiana and grew up a little over an hour from each other. Alex is from Valparaiso and Andrea is from Granger. They most likely attended the same football games in high school because their schools typically opened the season playing each other. They both eventually made their way out to Colorado - Andrea in 2009 for college and Alex in 2019 to work at Kiewit.

The Meet Cute

Andrea started working at Kiewit in 2021 and the following year both Alex and Andrea were asked to be mentors for the Colorado University (CU) Kiewit Scholar Program. During the kickoff event for the program when the mentors would meet their mentees for the school year the CU bus ended up arriving an hour late. The mentors were told to eat the dinner while they waited. Andrea got in line right behind Alex and they started talking about where they were from which lead to a conversation of Notre Dame vs. Purdue. They ate dinner together and the next day Andrea received a message on the company chat asking if she wanted to get coffee which then led to their first official date.

First Date to Forever

Their first non-dinner date was a hike through the golden autumn aspen leaves in Vail. It wasn't long before they both realized this was something special. Their shared love of God, the outdoors, and great music unfolded over the next year and a half. In August 2024, Alex's mom Karyn was visiting and he wanted to take her to the top of the gondola at Vail. During the photos Alex turned to Andrea and surprised her with asking if she would marry him!
